Bloem-lezing / Live poems 10 September 2016

Geachte volger/bezoeker,

Zaterdag 10 september mag ik meedoen aan de Bloem-lezing, vanaf 16.00 in de Oudshoornse Kerk in Alphen aan den Rijn.

Dichter J.C. Bloem (1887-1966) kwam uit Oudshoorn (nu Alphen aan den Rijn) en overleed dit jaar 50 jaar geleden. Om hem te gedenken, zullen dichters uit Alphen aan den Rijn en omgeving voordragen uit zijn werk, of uit eigen werk dat op zijn poëzie is geïnspireerd. Mijn bijdrage zal bestaan in het gedicht ‘Herwonnen Paradijs’ dat ik schreef na een wandeling naar Bloem’s geboortehuis, Villa Nuova aan de Oude Rijn. U vindt het elders op deze site.

I am very pleased to announce I will participate in a poetry event on Saturday, September 10, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of Dutch poet J.C. Bloem (1887-1966).

A line-up of local poets will recite the man’s poems, as well as their own work inspired by his, in a church near his birthplace along the Old Rhine river in Alphen, Southern Holland.

My contribution will be a ballad I wrote when I joined my fellow Writers in Residence in a walk along this river, which, by the way, used to mark the Northern border of the Roman Empire (known as the Limes).
